One year ago, It Takes a Herd Foundation officially began its journey as a nonprofit organization.
What a year it has been.
Over the past twelve months, we've watched an idea grow into a community. We've
welcomed families who were searching for hope, volunteers who generously gave their time, farms that opened their gates and their hearts, donors and benefactors who believed in our mission, and community partners who helped us reach more people living with dementia and their care partners than we could have imagined.
Together, we've built something special.
Every program reminds us that connection still matters. That moments of joy still matter. That people living with dementia and their care partners deserve opportunities to laugh together, learn together, and discover they are not alone. That's what our Herd has always been about — Connection, Camaraderie, and Community.
To every participant and family who has trusted us with a part of your journey — thank you.
To every volunteer who arrived early, stayed late, walked beside our participants, and shared your compassion — thank you.
To our incredible farm partners, whose beautiful facilities have become places of hope and belonging — thank you.
To our donors, grantors, benefactors, and community supporters — thank you for believing that this work matters. Your generosity makes every smile, every conversation, every breakthrough, and every new friendship possible.
As we celebrate our first birthday, we're also looking ahead.
Our commitment remains the same as it was on day one: to continue creating dementia-friendly spaces where people can reconnect, build relationships, and find a community that understands the journey. Because no one should have to walk this path alone.
The first year proved what is possible. The years ahead will be about reaching even more families, strengthening more partnerships, continuing to reduce the stigma of dementia and building a community where everyone belongs.
Thank you for being a part of the Herd!
